I've watch many films that portray the lead heroic characters as being from the Western world, while the villains often come from the East and they're usually shown as stupid and savage Arab and Muslim terrorists. I'm not saying everyone who watches such movies would fall for it easily, but it definitely reinforces the stereotypical image of Arabs and Muslims as barbaric and uncivilized increasing the gap between those cultures.
The fact that Hollywood uses this kind of discourse a lot in their movies means that this discourse can easily influence the next generations if they do not tend to search and learn about the real culture of these societies.
I believe it's our responsibility to prevent such discourse to reach to younger generations and to teach them by any available means how to separate between fiction and realty when they learn about different societies. On the other hand, one can say there is a prejudice opinion towards the West by the people of the East. For example, in Sudan and the Arab world in general, it's often believed that America is the ultimate source of evil in the world. I think it was implemented by politicians and religious clerks to justify the failure of the government and to protect the ruling party over the years.
