Bee-lieve it, Honey!

Introduction:

Paris is home to many famous monuments. We have the Notre Dame Cathedral, a magnificent church. We also have the Louvre, one of the most famous museums in the world. We've got a huge opera house, old royal palaces and grand city halls. There's one thing all these places have in common, and it's something you won't expect. They've all got bees!

Many monuments in Paris also have apiaries. Those are places where beekeepers take care of bees. Bees live right on the roofs of these important buildings! Bees are also everywhere in the many beautiful gardens of Paris.

Just as the monuments of Paris are important, so are the bees. What makes these creatures so valuable? Let's take a closer look.

What does this creature or plant look like?:

There are many types of bees. Here in Paris, the most common ones are honeybees and bumblebees. They've got yellow and black stripes, fuzzy little bodies and clear wings. Bumblebees are a bit smaller and a bit rounder than honeybees. They're also a more bright yellow.

How did I feel when I saw it?:

A lot of people are afraid of bees. If you bother them, they might sting! Some people are even allergic. However, I'm completely fine with bees. In fact, I love seeing bees. It means that there are flowers and plants nearby.
