The weather was quite pleasant--highs in the low 80s, lows in the 40s Fahrenheit at night. Autumn and Spring are the best seasons in Central Asia, because they're after the furnace heat of summer and the bitter Siberian chill of winter.
I saw the usual suspects who live in urban environments in Uzbekistan--Indian mynas, magpies, rooks, doves, and massive flocks of pigeons. On a sadder note (at least for Westerners), I also saw hordes of many stray cats and a few stray dogs. Don't get too close to them--should they bite or scratch you, you will need a rabies shot.
Taking the train from Qarshi to Tashkent, I saw several domestic Bactrian Camels working in the cotton fields. They're huge, even viewed from the distance of a passing train car. I wish I could see the last wild population in Mongolia.
