The Orphanage Project at Lusaka National Park rescues and protects elephants. Currently there are four baby elephants there. I was able to see all four of them eating and playing with each other.
These creatures are elephants: large creatures, massive even. They have floppy ears and a long nose referred to as a trunk. They walk on all fours. They are herbivores.
I was so delighted to see them because I had not seen elephants this close. It was also exciting to see them because they are babies and we were able to see them eat. They had milk and topped it off with drinks of water and leaves.
This animal lives in the wild. We saw these animals at an elephant orphanage that helps to rehabilitate them and eventually release them back into the wild. Elephants are rescued from all over Zambia.
This animal uses its environment to survive by eating plants that grow from the earth. Elephants also move together for safety.
