What music did I listen to this week?:

I listened to a lot of music this week because I am getting ready to do a singing show this upcoming Thursday. Here is Tucumán, they have a very distinct type of music called folklore, which sounds like a mix of pop music and mariachi music from Mexico. The songs are usually accompanied by guitar. They are beautiful. My favorite singer right now is Mercedes Sosa, who is one of the most famous folklore singers in the province of Tucumán.

What activity was the most fun this week?:

In Argentina there are many festivals celebrated for varying themes. This last Friday was the first day of spring and it was Day of the Students. That meant that the school held a huge event with games all day long, from air hockey to card games. They had live bands playing from 2:00pm until 6:00am in the morning. The most fun activity at the festival was the espuma, which means foam. The school set up a large machine that created foam that covered the entire ground with bubbles!

What did I read this week?:

This week I have been reading a local book in Spanish called Nada de Tucanes about a young boy who becomes best friends with a toucan, which is a kind of bird here. This boy is very attached to the toucan, who he names and brings to school with him.

What games or sports did I play this week?:

In Argentina, the card game truco, which means trickster, is a very popular game played during barbeques. It is also a way to pass the time with friends wherever you are. The game is played in teams with special cards.
