Hey, Ms. McLain's English Level 2 class!
It is a pleasure to meet you over the Internet! As Ms. McLain probably told you, my name is Gabe. No, I haven't met you in person, but there are a couple of things that I already know we have in common. Firstly, like you, I spend most of my year living close to northern Virginia. And second, I care a lot about languages, as, I know, do you, too! Now, I want to tell you how I got here. And where is "here," exactly? Well, in my case, "Here" is the city of Amman, Jordan where I am spending the whole of this year doing research! Jordan is one of the countries situated in the Middle East, and I am immersed each day in the culture, foods, music, and more of this fascinating and friendly Arab country. It is so exciting to me that I get to tell you about my journey here in Jordan!
I have lived in Jordan since August 2022, but my path started out differently for some travelers. A few basic facts about me: I am 27 years old. I am originally from Connecticut, but I have also lived in Chicago and Washington, D.C. I really like telling jokes, and I do a lot of cooking. I also play piano--or, at least, I'm trying to learn! My parents are from Massachusetts, where I also grew up until age 10 when my family moved to Connecticut. I have also spent a lot of time in different countries.
