Hi Everyone!

I can’t believe our time together with Reach the World is coming to an end, already. For my final journal, I wanted to talk a bit about the program that brought me to Spain before sharing some final thoughts.

My moving to Vigo was made possible by the Fulbright program, a cultural exchange program sponsored by the US State Department. Every year, Fulbright enables thousands of students from the US to live in over 140 different countries and allows international students to study in the US for the purpose of cross-cultural professional and academic dialogue. It is available to scholars, recent college graduates and professionals. My specific award is the ETA award, or English Teaching Assistantship, allowing me to foster cultural exchange through education and language learning. Fulbright is widely considered prestigious, and many Fulbright alumni have gone on to win awards, such as Nobel Peace Prizes, and become world leaders.

Being a part of Fulbright has been a surreal experience. While many of my classmates in college applied for Fulbright ETAs before we graduated, I didn’t -- I had never heard of it!
