I’m a long-distance runner, and I love exploring new cities by running in them. Travel days are busy, so it’s always difficult to find time for a run, but I’m always glad I do because I’m able to see parts of the city others aren’t. This week, I ran to some abandoned caves outside of Matera where monks used to live, ran to a large grotto at the end of a long beach in Vieste, and ran along a beautiful seaside promenade in the town of Maiori on the Amalfi Coast.
Other news from the week is that I celebrated my birthday on Monday, September 28! I spent my birthday hiking between various towns of the Amalfi Coast. Two towns – Maiori and Minori – are connected by a difficult trail called “the Path of Lemons,” which cuts through several lemon groves and lemon farms. So, there are a lot of opportunities to get fresh lemonade along the steep, difficult walk.
