A Night Out on the Town for Dinner in Italy!

Introduction:

In Italy, a few foods that can be found everywhere. Almost anywhere you go, you can find pizzas, pastas and pastries. I will take you along for a typical dinner, or cena. Imagine you are walking through a cobblestone street. Around you, people amble (walk slowly) past you, all dressed up. Through the air wafts the sound of a dance class, with laughter and music. You are with your friends, and as you are walking, you look around for a good place to eat. You make your way to the Piazza (city center), which is a big square filled with restaurants, stores and cafes. There are no cars, as this is just a place for people, and you can walk in the street. All the restaurants have tables set up outside, and so you look at people’s plates to see what looks good. At one spot, you see a delicious pizza, as big as a plate, filled with cheese, tuna and tomatoes. In Italy, you just sit down at a table, and the waiter will come up to you and bring the menus and take your order.

What food did I try?:

Soon, the waiter comes out with your pizza, bread for the table, and olive oil and balsamic vinegar, plus parmesan cheese. You dip the thick crusty bread into the oil and vinegar with the cheese. It is crunchy and cheesy, and it melts in your mouth. Then you cut into the pizza. In Italy, you eat pizza with a fork and a knife instead of with your hands.
