Welcome back! Today, I will explore how people make their way through Warsaw Poland! Learning the transit system in a new city is an adventure in itself, but it also highlights important elements of the local environment and culture!
Public transportation—including trams, buses, and the metro—is one of the most popular and fastest ways of traveling around Warsaw. People can purchase tickets in the Jakdojade (How do I get there?) app based on how long they want to ride from 20 minutes to a weekend pass. Walking is also very common as Warsaw is a pedestrian-friendly city, especially near the city center. While people have cars and drive, with approximately 850 vehicles per 1,000 residents, traffic congestion and environmental regulations such as the Clean Transport Zone encourage individuals to utilize public transportation.
Initially, I was a bit worried I would get lost using public transportation here (which admittedly I did a few times)! For instance, for certain tram routes in the city center I had to go underground just to cross to the other side of the street to get to the correct tram stop.
