Vidimo se prijatelji! See you soon friends! I really hope you enjoyed traveling around Serbia with me and learning about this wonderful country, its food, nature, traditions, and people. I too must say goodbye to Serbia and its delicious food, beautiful mountains, fun traditions, and some of my best friends. Maybe one day you too can visit, or find your own country to explore and live in for a little while.
This week, I will call you from Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovnia, a neighboring country that I lived in last year. Did you know it all used to be one country? Yup, it was called Yugoslavia, so the food, language, and culture are pretty similar to Serbia. The biggest difference is the religion; most people in Sarajevo are Muslim, while most people in Serbia are Orthodox Christian. On our call, we will walk around the Old Town and you can see the Ottoman Turkish influence in the buildings, colorful carpets, bustling bazaars, and sweet, sugary treats like baklava and turkish delights!
I will miss exploring Serbia and bringing you along on my journey, but I am glad you learned a few Serbian words, joined me for lunch at a traditional resturant, and chatted with my Serbian friend!
