Traveler Bio

Renown explorer Mark Evans has lived in Arabia for 25 years, undertaking incredible adventures like a 49-day trek on foot and by camel across the largest sand desert on Earth, as well as a 28-day east-west crossing of all of Saudi Arabia. Now, Mark is embarking on his next epic quest, this time traveling the entire 3,165-kilometer coastline of Oman by kayak over 70 days to observe and celebrate the Sultanate of Oman's rich maritime heritage—and you're invited to join him!

Throughout Mark's Oman 3165 Expedition (www.oman3165.com), he will be checking in with Reach the World classrooms through written articles and live video calls. You can see how Mark prepares for this expedition, what a typical day at sea looks like, and who he meets along the way. Starting at the northern city of Musandam (bordering the United Arab Emirates) and ending in the small community of Dhalkut (close to the border with Yemen), Mark aims to cover some 30-40 km each day, coming ashore to camp on the beach each night before setting off an hour before sunrise each day.

What will Mark experience along the way? Join the "Exploring Oman by Kayak" virtual exchange today and your classroom will experience a part of the world few get to see. Register today at www.bit.ly/rtwexplore!
