Hej! My name is Evelyn. I recently graduated from Bates College in Lewiston, Maine, where I studied Earth and Climate Sciences. During my time at Bates, I was introduced to researching Arctic environments. I became engrossed in learning about how delicate Arctic ecosystems are changing due to warming climates, and even spent a semester studying in Iceland!
This year, I am continuing to study Arctic ecosystems while on a Fulbright Study Grant in Denmark and Greenland. As a Fulbright grantee, I am taking biology courses at Aarhus University during the fall semester and field-centered courses in Nuuk, Greenland, during the spring. Working "in the field" means conducting research in the environment that you are studying. In Greenland, this entails working on complex ecosystems like sea ice to understand how they function.
Beyond my research, I am meeting many wonderful people and learning about Danish and Greenlandic culture. I am excited to share my adventures with you as we take on these new experiences together!
