How Do We Get There?

Every street has a sidewalk and major roads have bike lanes, thus making sure that people are safe when getting around. One example of a special bike lane in Tel Aviv is located on a street called Sderot Nordau. On this street, there is a long path that has two lanes, one for bikes and one for walking.

How did I feel when I tried this way of getting around?:

When I arrived at Tel Aviv, the other students and I bought used bikes at a nearby bike store. I’ll let you in on a secret: I didn’t know how to ride a bike when I came to Tel Aviv! Surprisingly, I was able to learn in less than two days by practicing in HaYarkon Park, located just across from where I live. Whether it’s riding my bike to school or simply enjoying a ride along the beach, riding a bike is a fun and active way to explore Tel Aviv and all that it has to offer!

Some people might see a twenty or thirty minute walk as an inconvenience or a waste of time, but sometimes I actually prefer walking to places over taking the bus or riding my bike. By walking to places, I am also able to look at the surroundings, the people and everything that makes Tel Aviv so special!

Is this way of getting around connected to the culture and environment, How?:

Whether it's taking the bus, riding a bike or walking, these three different ways of transportation show how much the city of Tel Aviv cares about the environment. By taking the bus, people reduce, or decrease, air pollution by carpooling or driving with other people. Both walking and riding a bike also help with protecting animals and the environment by not adding any pollution that a regular car would.
