Hello! My name is Eric Ponieman. I am 22 years old, and call Long Island, New York, home. Growing up on Long Island, I enjoyed playing soccer with my two brothers, visiting the city with friends, and eating at local bagel shops. Upon graduating from high school, I headed to Easton, Pennsylvania to play soccer and study Psychology at Lafayette College. I was also able to minor in Government and Law, and took a few Spanish language courses as well.
Since my parents are from Argentina, I was eager to connect with my heritage and further develop my language skills. As a result, I decided to apply to be a Peace Corps Youth Development volunteer in Peru, and have been working in this position for over a year. I currently live in the mountainous region of Junín, where I offer vocational orientation, extracurricular, and community engagement programs at the local schools. In addition, I organize family workshops with parents and engage with the local traditions. I am very excited to meet you all, and am looking forward to sharing this experience!
