Bye, Australia!

It felt funny to see Christmas decorations in the middle of summer, with people wearing shorts instead of jackets.

Another one of my favorite experiences in Sydney was riding the ferries. Whenever the ferry started moving, the wind blew through my hair and the boat bounced lightly over the waves. From the deck, I could look out and see the whole city stretching across the shore. It always made me feel like I was on an adventure, even if I was just heading to another neighborhood.

As my time in Sydney comes to an end, I keep thinking about everything I’ll miss. I’ll miss the sound of the ocean, the friendly people who always said “How ya going?” and the bright purple jacaranda trees blooming over the streets. I’ll miss how peaceful the city felt on Sunday afternoons, when everyone slowed down and enjoyed the sunshine. I'll also miss all of you guys! Although we are 10,000 miles away, I love seeing your excited faces when I share my travel memories with you all.

I'll also miss the feeling of being somewhere new and exciting, where every day brought something different. Sydney taught me that the world is big and beautiful; and, even though people may talk differently or have different traditions, we can still connect through kindness.

Now, I’m heading home with a heart full of memories, a few seashells from the beach and a promise to myself that I’ll come back someday. Maybe one day you guys will come here. When you do, make sure to send me photos :)
