Slovakia is best known for its nature. From mountains to sheep to berry trees, there is always something to see. While I have not been lucky enough to see many of their wild animals, I have seen many deer, different plants and a lot of snow.
One specific plant I have seen in many places around Slovakia is the Wild privet. Other names used for it include common privet or European privet. This plant is a viny shrub with berries. This type of plant looks similar to a grape vine but can be found on houses.
When I first walked by one of these plants, I thought I saw blueberries and was curious. During the fall season, the leaves on the plant even change colors. I thought it was interesting to see this plant wrapped around may of the fences along my walk into town.
The wild privet species is found in central and eastern Europe. Since Slovakia is in central Europe, it is a native plant to this area. It wouldn’t survive as well in other parts of the world, like North America.
