If you buy a bottle of water at a store or a fancy restaurant, it might cost about $4,000 pesos, which is around $2.86 in U.S. dollars.

What was the best meal this week?:

This week I tried some amazing Italian food! Because there is a strong Italian influence in Argentina, there are many Italian restaurants here. I went to a restaurant that has two Michelin stars, which means it is known for having very high-quality food.

I ordered meatballs as an appetizer and carbonara pasta for my main dish. It was muy delicioso (very delicious)! For dessert, I had tiramisu.

What music did I listen to this week?:

One of my friends here is from Brazil, where samba music is very popular. For her birthday, we went out to celebrate by dancing samba! It was a fun way to experience a style of music and dance that is important in Brazilian culture.

What activity was the most fun this week?:

Samba dancing! I love dancing to music, and it is always fun to learn new dance styles. In Argentina, dancing tango is very popular, but it was exciting to try samba dancing, which is much faster and more energetic.

What did I read this week?:

This week I visited the Biblioteca Nacional Mariano Moreno (the National Library of Argentina). It is a very large library built on the site where a former president’s residence once stood. While I was there, I was able to do some archival research.

I looked at old editions of The Buenos Aires Herald, an English-language newspaper that was widely read in Argentina during the 1970s. I found a large book that contained copies of the newspaper from March through September of 1979.
