Instead, I’ve been exploring the city to learn where to find the things I need. One of the best places is Narantuul, a huge open-air market where you can buy anything: clothes, shoes, horse saddles, furniture, jewelry, pots, pans and more. This week, I went there to buy more socks because my toes turn into ice cubes every time I go outside!

Other Travel News from this week:

One of the best things about living in another country is how many different cultures you get to experience. When I traveled to Chinggis City, I met two Filipinos, and our 12-hour drive turned into a long conversation about our home countries: how they’re similar, how they’re different and what we dream about for the future. I learn so much by listening to others’ stories.

I felt the same way during Thanksgiving. My American friends and I invited people from many countries to our potluck, everyone brought a dish from their own culture. We ended up sharing food from the U.S., Afghanistan, Uzbekistan, India, Bangladesh and more. I love moments like these because they remind me that living abroad isn’t just about exploring a new place – it’s about connecting with people and seeing how amazing and diverse the world is.
