A Farewell to My Home-Away-From-Home

Switching gears a bit from reflection mode, my cousin came to visit me in Copenhagen to celebrate my 21st birthday and explore the city! This past week has brought some of the best weather yet: sunshine, warm temperatures and lots of time relaxing on the patio with my housemates. Tivoli Gardens, Copenhagen’s famous amusement park, reopened last month, and my friends and I spent an entire Saturday riding roller coasters and wandering through the park.

On May 1st, Denmark celebrated International Workers’ Day, so classes ended early and we got to explore the festivals and endless street food options around the city. Speaking of food, Reffen Copenhagen Street Food had been on my bucket list all semester, and it was finally nice enough to bike there and sit by the water with friends. I’ve also been discovering more BMO spots and finding new parks around the city to relax in.

Wrapping up this article feels bittersweet. My keyboard might not be covered in tears yet, but I know once I’m sitting on two separate over five-hour flights home, reminiscing about this semester, I’ll definitely need a jumbo-sized tissue box. I already know I’ll be saving up to come back to Copenhagen one day... except next time, I’ll be returning as a tourist (insert HUGE crying emoji here).

Thank you for following along on this journey with me. I’m always just an email away. Hav det godt, take care!
