I thought it would be fun to show you the differences and similarities between America's Independence Day and Taiwan's National Day. Going to both celebrations showed me how important patriotism is to both countries. These are celebrations that unite the people in the nations and celebrate freedom and independence.
I learned about Taiwan’s National Day, Double Ten Day, which is celebrated every year on October 10th. In Taipei, the city becomes decorated with flags and people celebrate with their families. While learning about this tradition, I noticed there are many similarities and differences between Double Ten Day and America’s Independence Day. Check out my new album labeled "Taiwan's National Day" to see videos of the guards at Chiang Kai-shek Memorial and the fireworks from Taipei 101!
Both holidays are national celebrations that mark the beginning of a country. They use flags as a major symbol of patriotism. Parades, fireworks, and performances are common. Families gather together, communities celebrate and both days show strong national pride. However, I also learned that the two holidays feel very different from each other.
Taiwan’s Double Ten Day is in the fall, but Independence Day is in the summer.
