El Día de Los Tres Reyes Magos

Introduction:

The purpose of holdiays is to bring people together to celebrate. Holidays are especially important for families because they provide an opportunity to family members to keep in touch with each other. El Día de Los Tres Reyes Magos (The day of The Three Kings) is an important holiday that celebrates the three wise men who brought Jesus gifts on the day of his birth.

What tradition did I learn about?:

El Día de Los Tres Reyes Magos is a cherished tradition in Spain. The Three Wise Men were the Biblical rulers who were said to have followed the star of Bethlehem to the birthplace of Jesus. The kings arrived with gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh. This event is celebrated on January 6, when children leave their shoes in a place where the kings (or Magi) can supposedly see them. It is said that these religious monarchs, along with Santa Claus, love sweets, so Spanish children usually leave candies to attract the kings, as well as straw to feed their camels.
