Deep Sea Exploration Using Robots

Introduction:

Hello, my name is Chad Bonin. I am an AUV Superintendent for Ocean Infinity. Working for Ocean Infinity has been a great experience for me because I get to travel the world and work in some of the most remote areas of all of the world’s oceans. The most interesting part about my job is that I am always using the newest and best technology for subsea exploration.

What makes this environment special or different?:

The oceans of the world are special to all of us because so much is still unknown and yet to be explored. We have explored and know more about Mars and outer space than we do about the oceans on our own planet! To this day, 80 percent of the world’s oceans have not been explored or mapped.

What parts of this environment help people to live here?:

For humans, there is an overwhelming attraction to beaches and oceans. There seems to be a positive change in the atmosphere the closer you get to the water. This attraction, and the inquisitive minds of humans, is what keeps us coming back to the oceans to investigate and learn more about it. By continuing to explore, we can find new species and ways to utilize the ocean's natural resources to enhance and sustain human life.
