Traveler Bio

I was born and raised on US Military bases overseas. I really enjoy traveling! I've been a teacher for over 20 years. I've taught in the US, Japan, Morocco and the Philippines. Now, I'm going to teach in Nepal with the Peace Corps as a volunteer (PCV)

As a PCV, I'll stay with a host family. I don't have to pay rent, buy food, or cook. But I'll definitely have chores to do, like washing my own clothes by hand. I'm told that the house I'm staying in has some electricity at least sometimes, but I don't know if it has wi-fi yet.

With other PCVs, I'll be learning Nepali and talking with other teachers about how to teach. We don't have a lot of details yet about the schools we'll be working at, but I do know some things. First, there are about 20 of us teachers. We'll be going to one of 5 places. We'll be teaching elementary and or middle school students. Part of our job is not only teaching students, but helping local teachers use more modern teaching techniques, especially using computers.

Schools in Nepal don't have many of the things that we have here in the US, but we're going to do our best to help the students, their families and their communities. I'm honored to have been chosen to be a member of the Peace Corps!
