Linden Trees in Berlin

Introduction:

In Los Angeles, you all have palm trees. In Berlin, they have another type of tree called a linden tree.

What does this creature or plant look like?:

The linden tree is a big tree with many leaves. The leaves are heart-shaped, and in the cold months, the tree loses all its leaves. During the spring, the linden tree has small yellow flowers that smell sweet like candy!

How did I feel when I saw it?:

I felt very happy to see the tree because it was very big and protected me from the rain in Berlin. A lot of people in Berlin sit under a linden tree when it rains.

Where does it live?:

The linden tree lives all over the city! From sidewalks to parks, you can find the tree everywhere. There are many trees near a famous statue called the Brandenburg Gate. The Brandenburg Gate is a big gate that represents unity.

How does it use its environment to survive?:

Berlin is a swamp and it rains a lot here. The linden tree uses all the water from the rain to grow big and strong! When it is sunny in Berlin, the tree uses the light to make its own food!

What can harm this creature or plant? Are we worried about it?:

Pollution (garbage and chemicals outside) from garbage or cars can hurt the linden trees.
