What main languages are spoken here?:

Most people spoke English on the boat, but it depends on the passengers for any given cruise. Our guides were mostly from Canada or New Zealand. As a whole, Antarctica is a very international place. No one country owns the land, so scientists from around the world come together here to conduct research together.

What type of money is used here?:

The U.S. dollar was the main currency used onboard the ship.

How much does a bottle of water cost?:

Water was free onboard the ship. Everything was provided by the boat and its crew. There really is no other way to go, as we were a long way away from any restaurant, mall or corner store.

What was the best meal this week?:

Breakfast was a buffet and I loved the sausages they had. At night, we would have five-course meals. My favorite meal included an appetizer of fried mushrooms, cream of pumpkin soup, a garden salad, a salmon main course, and chocolate ice cream for dessert. Everything they served on the ship had to be loaded in Argentina and brought along with us.

What music did I listen to this week?:

I didn't listen to any music--instead, I left my door open and listened to the wind and the ocean. It was mesmerizing.

What activity was the most fun this week?:

I did two really great activities that I'll never forget.
