Tasting Tour of Italy!

Sometimes they cook them with herbs, and sometimes they fry them until they’re crispy!
  • Roman pizza: Not all pizza is the same! Roman pizza has a thin crust that is not floppy or soft in the middle. The dough for the crust is baked until it is crisp. Sometimes, it is cut into rectangular slices in smaller shops and bakeries. You tell them how big of a slice you want, and they cut it and weigh it. It’s the perfect lunch or snack!

Did you know? Italians usually eat pizza with a knife and fork at a restaurant! No messy hands!

Luckily for me, Italians love dessert! Gelato is Italian ice cream, but it is super creamy and much smoother than regular ice cream. It comes in lots of yummy flavors like chocolate, pistachio, strawberry and hazelnut. Tiramisu is another popular dessert. The word “tiramisu” literally means “pick me up” in Italian—because it has coffee in it! Originating from Sicily, the southern “toe” area of the boot-shaped Italy, cannoli are crunchy pastry tubes filled with sweet ricotta cheese cream.

How did I feel when I tried it?:

I love trying local regional food because it always means that you get an authentic experience. I look forward to every meal I have in Italy. You can't go wrong with fresh pasta and pizza! Eating here puts a huge smile on my face!

    How is the food prepared?:

You can easily sign up for different cooking classes all around Italy! I learned how to make tagliatelle, a type of pasta, with carbonara sauce. Making homemade pasta is super easy–all you need are eggs, flour, and a tiny pinch of salt for the dough.
