Traveler Bio

Hello! My name is Catherine Zhang, but you can feel free to call me Cat. I grew up outside of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and have one older sister named Lily. I loved sports and music, and really enjoyed hanging out with my friends. I moved to Cambridge, Massachusetts to attend Harvard College, where I studied psychology and educational studies. When I was there, I decided to try some new things, from joining a hip-hop dance group to student government, which were awesome experiences. I also was involved in a lot of mentoring, where I advised some first-year students at school, as well as some 3rd- and 4th-graders in the Allston-Brighton community.

While I want to be in the United States later on, I was lucky enough to be selected as an English Teaching Assistant in Taiwan through a Fulbright Scholarship, and so I moved halfway across the world this past August! My parents immigrated from Hunan, China, and so I grew up speaking Mandarin Chinese, and it has been awesome to be able to interact with the community here. I am teaching 3rd through 6th grade at Neipu Elementary School in Taichung City, and I cannot wait for us to share our journeys with one another!
