To top it all off, a evening soirée (a small gathering) was organized with games and dancing late into the night.
I especially enjoyed the performance by ENS Rennes’s orchestra, composed primarily of my classmates and a few other students from other departments. One piece included performance between members from both the ENS Rennes and ENS Lyon orchestras called the Ker Lyon, a play on the Breton word Ker Lann (the name of ENS Rennes’s campus).
I also enjoyed the fanfare. Saturday and Sunday morning, members of the bands of each of the ENSs gathered in ENS Lyon’s gardens and performed live. Each band was dressed in a different color: black for ENS Lyon, pink for ENS Rennes, blue and yellow for ENS Paris-Saclay and orange for ENS Ulm. The performance included a blend of re-creations of pop songs and traditional music played by bands, solos by members of each band and a musical conga line! The fanfare went on for several hours on Sunday. Under the hot sun, I bet the band members must have been tired after all that playing!
Other ENS Events
The InterQ is only one of several special ENS-specific events. Some other notable events include:
The InterD, or inter-départemental, a sports tournament between the different departments within ENS Rennes.
The InterENS, a sports tournament between different teams of each ENS.
The Interludes, a weekend of all things board games.
