The primary language here is Arabic, but most people also speak English. There are many South Asian immigrants here from countries like India, Bangladesh and Pakistan, so languages from those countries are prevalent too.
The currency in Bahrain is Bahraini Dinars (B.D.). It's the second-most-powerful currency in the world (after Kuwait), and one dinar is around $2.60. I always pay with my phone or credit card, but the physical currency is a mix of coins and paper.
Water is very inexpensive here. A bottle of water from the grocery store is less than $0.20, but it might be $1-2 if you buy it from a restaurant.
One of my favorite foods in Bahrain is chicken shawarma. It's a flatbread wrap filled with sliced chicken, garlic sauce, fries and pickles. Sometimes it might also have hot sauce, cheese, sesame sauce or other fillings. One of the reasons it's my favorite is that you can find one almost anywhere, and it's usually $1.
I've been listening to podcasts while I work, so I actually didn't listen to any music this week.
