This week I was able to interview one of my students, Ondřej (own-dra), about his life in the Czech Republic. He is 16 years old and in his second year at the school that I work at. He is studying automechanics and lives in a village close to Bruntál.
"Usually I don't have a lot of time for breakfast in the morning because I have to get on the bus early for school. So, sometimes I just have some fruit or a rohlik (a kind of bread roll) that I can take with me.
For lunch, I always eat at the school canteen. Everyday we have two or three options to choose from, but it's usually some kind of Czech food. In the Czech Republic, lunch is the biggest meal, so we have soup, a main course, and then some kind of fruit or sweet thing at the end.
Dinner is not very big, my mom usually makes soup or something small for dinner."
"I live in a flat (another word for apartment) with my parents and my brother. It's not very big, so my brother and I share a room. We have two bedrooms, one bathroom, and a small kitchen/living room.
Our flat is close to the city center so we can walk to the shops, restaurants and park, which is nice."
