Ondřej's Life in the Czech Republic

What chores do you have at home?:

"I don't have many chores, but my mom makes me help with the gardening, (but not during the winter). Sometimes I have to take out the trash or help with the dishes."

What jobs do your parents have?:

"My dad works as a mechanic, fixing cars, and my mom stays at home and looks after the house."

What time does school start, and what time do you go home?:

"School starts at 8am, but I live in a different village so I have to get on the bus at around 7:15am to get to school. We have lessons for 45 min, with some breaks as well. We don't have the same schedule every day, so some days I get done with school at around 2:30pm, but on Fridays, I get done early, at around 12:00pm."

How do you get to school? Are you allowed to go to school by yourself?:

"I always ride the bus to school on my own. I've been allowed to take the bus and train by myself since I was 10 years old. It's pretty safe and easy in the Czech Republic."

Where do you eat lunch? What is your favorite food?:

"I eat lunch at the school canteen. It's usually pretty good, but not always my favorite. My favorite food is probably Svíčková (pork with cream sauce and dumplings) and I like to drink Kofola (Czech version of Coca-Cola)."

What language do you speak at school? How do you say "Hello" in your language?:

"We speak Czech at school most of the time, but I also take English class. I like learning English, but it is difficult.

To say 'hello' in Czech you can say 'Dobrý den'."
