Our News

I chose to get McDonald's and had chicken nuggets, which tasted exactly the same as in the U.S.!

What music did I listen to this week?:

I listened to a lot of country music this week, especially Jason Aldean and Morgan Wallen. Country music isn’t very common here, so it feels special to listen to something from my own culture while I’m living in Croatia. It reminds me of home!

What activity was the most fun this week?:

Traveling to Split was definitely the highlight of my week! It was so fun exploring another city in the country I’m living in and seeing new historical and other sights.

What did I read this week?:

This week, I read an article about tourism in Croatia. Tourism is when people travel to a place for fun, like for vacation, and spend money on hotels, food, tours and activities. Croatia depends a lot on tourism, especially in coastal cities like Dubrovnik. Dubrovnik gets over a million visitors every year. Right now, the city is pretty quiet, but in about a month, it will get very busy with tourists and large cruise ships coming into the port. The article helped me understand why tourism is so important here and how it changes the city during different times of the year.

What games or sports did I play this week?:

This week, my roommates and I played Uno after dinner a couple of times. It got pretty competitive, but it was really fun. It’s been a nice way to relax and spend time together at the end of the day after having exams.

Other news from this week:

I’ve been getting more comfortable grocery shopping here and figuring out what foods are similar to what I buy at home.
