Bis Bald, Not Goodbye

Whether it's sharing a meal, walking through the city or working alongside others, these everyday moments have shaped my experience more than anything else.

Being awarded a Fulbright research grant to Germany has been life-changing in ways I did not fully expect. Of course, I have grown academically through my research, but I have also grown personally. I have become more independent, more open to new experiences and more aware of how connected our world really is. It is easy to think of different countries as being far apart (especially if there's an ocean between them), but living here has shown me how small the world can feel and how much we share across cultures.

You have been an important part of that experience. Your questions helped me slow down, reflect and notice details I might have otherwise missed. Explaining my daily life to you made me think more carefully about what I was seeing and learning. In that way, this exchange was not only about me sharing with you, but about you helping to shape my experience as well.

As you continue learning German, I hope you carry with you a sense of curiosity and openness. Do not be afraid to try something new, to ask questions or to step outside of your comfort zone. Experiences like studying abroad, traveling or even learning another language, can open doors you might not expect. Programs like Fulbright and other scholarships exist to help students like you have opportunities to explore the world, and I would strongly encourage you to consider them in the future.
