While I told myself that I'd look into starting ballet classes at a dance studio in Brussels, I've learned that all classes are taught in French, so I think that I'll stick to my usual running along canals and through parks for now! :)
I finally connected with a friend of a friend from the U.S. who is Sri Lankan and just moved here from France. She grew up in a suburb of Paris, and as it turns out, we work one building away from each other! While constantly going through introductions and first impressions can be a little tiring, it's very rewarding as I start to feel more at home and develop my own community in Brussels. Meeting friends of friends here has reinforced the importance of creating connections with others when traveling abroad for long periods of time. They become your network, and through some friends, I've already started making some friends in Berlin, too.
