I was born in Brooklyn, NY, moved to Philadelphia, PA at the age of three and moved to Memphis, TN right before my sixth birthday. For the majority of my formative years in Memphis, I attended all-girls St. Mary's Episcopal School and said yes to just about every opportunity to try something new. Ballet, volleyball, theater, Bharatnatyam (an Indian classical dance form), school newspaper and mock trial were some of the extracurriculars that I enjoyed. Exploring my interests and going after what makes me excited taught me the value of learning, commitment and discipline. Looking back, this understanding, coupled with my interest in global affairs, really has driven everything that I've done since my time at St. Mary's.
I studied International Politics and Development at Georgetown University's School of Foreign Service in Washington, D.C. I once again found myself making the most of all the events and activities on and off-campus; it was the best place to be for what I wanted to study and do. While I didn't study abroad for a semester, I spent a summer in Lucknow, India learning intensive Urdu through the Critical Language Scholarship sponsored by the U.S. Department of State. Throughout college, I wavered between the idea of law school and foreign service.
