Transportation in the United Kingdom

All I had to do was approach a taxi driver and tell him/her where I wanted to go. The taxi driver gave me a rough estimate of the cost, and then off we went!

The taxi company had card scanners inside the vehicle! At the end of the trip, I paid with my card. I could have also pay in cash if I wanted to.

The only thing I missed about riding in a taxi was seeing where I was and where I was going on my mobile device. I just had to hope I ended up at the right place!

Is this way of getting around connected to the culture and environment, How?:

The attitudes and beliefs I have experienced regarding Uber/Lyft versus taxis is a part of the local culture. Locals feel strongly about taxis, because the taxi industry provides many jobs. If Uber/Lyft takes over, many individuals might lose their jobs.
