Animals Sightings in Ghana

We discussed in the past the types of animals in Ghana, so let's take a closer look! We have the typical farm animals, but did you know Ghana also has monkeys? Let's look closer!

Sometimes monkeys will jump on your arms and shoulders, but you should only let them at sanctuaries with trained staff
This breed of monkey stays high up in trees and sleeps for about 18-20 hours each day
Pigs aren't super common, but some farmers have them. This mom (called a sow) recently gave birth in my village
Chickens are free-roaming, including in the classroom!
This goat just gave birth right outside my neighbor's front door
Goats are free-roaming too, and often hang out on the main road
Look closely and you'll see a goat on the top of a roof! I usually see this twice per month
This is a mona monkey. They are considered culturally important by local communities
