Today marks one month and three days that I have been living in Barcelona, Spain. To celebrate, I decided to take a weekend trip with some friends to the Balearic Islands in the Mediterranean Sea. So here I am, writing to you all from our terrace in Ibiza with a view of the sea!
Since arriving in Barcelona, I have been keeping myself very busy. In fact, I feel lucky that I am never in want of things to do! As a Fulbright researcher, my mission here in Spain has two parts. I work in the neuroscience lab. I am also here in order to participate in cultural exchange with Spaniards and other members of the global community.
I have been making sure to take time to integrate into my new home. One of my favorite things about Barcelona is how diverse it is. There are so many people from all over the world that are living, working and traveling in Barcelona. For this reason, my friend group is made up of an international crowd. I now have friends from Argentina, Italy, France, Pakistan, Australia and of course from Spain!
In order to further integrate into my new community, I am taking part in a number of activities outside of work. It's a challenge to balance work in the neuroscience lab, Catalan classes, exploring the city, playing soccer, hanging out with friends and of course keeping connected with you all.
