National Park Adventures

We also saw a troop of these capuchin monkeys move across the yard of our accommodation in the evening, hopping from tree to tree and even walking across the roof. These monkeys are black and white with tiny, cute faces. However, don't let their cute appearance fool you, as we were warned that the monkeys love to steal phones, passports, and jewlery if you aren't careful!

Lastly, I saw a pineapple plant for the first time in person, too. I was not expecting for the pineapple to grow in the way that it does because it looks as if someone placed it on top of a totally different plant! We drove through a palm oil farm as well. Palm oil comes from palm trees, and is one export of Costa Rica. I also saw many lovely flowers with bright colors.

How did I feel when I saw it?:

It was really incredible to watch the monkeys play and run, both in the park and near our accommodation. I wonder if the locals are used to the monkeys running around, but I feel as if I would never get tired of watching them eat fruit and swing across the trees. Some of their actions resemble humans so closely. While they seem familiar in that sense, they are also very different from anything I have seen at home in the U.S, especially in the Midwest. It's also always amazing to see the sloths because they carry such significance in Costa Rica. Being able to spot them high in the trees makes me feel connected to this beautiful country. Overall, I feel grateful for the opportunity to travel abroad and see things that I could never experience at home!

Where does it live?:

The animals utilize all the different parts of the ecosystem. In the area close to the beach, you can spot many small holes in the sandy ground.
