Beyond teaching, I love to travel—I’ve been to eight countries so far! I also enjoy learning languages (I’m currently learning Turkish!), dancing (I even learned hula dancing while living in Hawaii) and trying new foods (ask me about my favorite Turkish dishes!).
Why am I in Türkiye?
I applied for a Fulbright grant because I wanted to experience life in a different country and build connections across cultures. Türkiye is an amazing place with a mix of history, modern life and kind people. It’s exciting to wake up every day and learn something new, whether it’s how to order food in Turkish, how to celebrate a local holiday or understanding new perspectives from my students.
What’s it like traveling abroad?
At first, moving to a new country can feel a little overwhelming—everything from the language to the food to the way people greet each other can be different. But that’s also what makes it exciting! Every challenge is a chance to learn and grow. Some of my favorite moments in Türkiye so far have been:
