Autobiography

My studies helped me understand how students from different backgrounds experience school and travel, which inspired me to work with international students!

Beyond teaching, I love to travel—I’ve been to eight countries so far! I also enjoy learning languages (I’m currently learning Turkish!), dancing (I even learned hula dancing while living in Hawaii) and trying new foods (ask me about my favorite Turkish dishes!).

Why am I in Türkiye?

I applied for a Fulbright grant because I wanted to experience life in a different country and build connections across cultures. Türkiye is an amazing place with a mix of history, modern life and kind people. It’s exciting to wake up every day and learn something new, whether it’s how to order food in Turkish, how to celebrate a local holiday or understanding new perspectives from my students.

What’s it like traveling abroad?

At first, moving to a new country can feel a little overwhelming—everything from the language to the food to the way people greet each other can be different.
