Mandarin trees are well-preserved domestically, but there are still things that can harm them. In the wild in Southeast Asia they face deforestation and the consequences of climate change. Citrus orchards around the world are facing something called “Citrus Greening Disease” which creates oddly shaped fruits, deformed limbs and worse problems. While there isn’t a cure yet, lots of research is being done on how to prevent this disease and protect the fruit beloved around the world. Mandarin trees are unlikely to ever go extinct, but, like any plant, can be affected by pests, diseases and damage done by humans.
