The independence movement died slowly over the next three years and finally ended in 1711.
Ferenc Rákóczi II remains a folk hero in Hungary as a crusader for Hungarian Independence. His statues adorn the city of Budapest, especially at the Parliament Building. His image is also printed on the 500 Forint banknote!
