Taiwanese Student Perspectives

On Wednesdays, I stay at school to finish homework and then walk to cram school. I don't like sports but sometimes I watch baseball with my family and I play racing video games with my brother. I enjoy reading mystery books.

Who is your favorite famous person?:

Most students really like K-Pop, so a variety of Korean idols were mentioned. One of my friends asked her older students and they said Song Min-gi was their favorite.

What kinds of music do you listen to?:

K-Pop (South Korean), Taiwanese music and J-Pop (Japanese) are all popular music genres.

What would you like to be when you grow up?:

One student answered that she would like to be a volleyball athlete. Another said she would like to be a tour guide in Taiwan because she can speak both Chinese and English really well. She also loves history, so she'd love to talk to people all day about Taiwan's history. She could also be an actress because she likes to make people smile.

If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go?:

This answer varied a lot, so I'll just list all of the answers with the more popular ones first. South Korea, Japan, Malaysia, Thailand, the USA, Australia, China, France, Canada, Germany, Iceland, Russia, Italy, Spain, England, Egypt, Brazil, Portugal, Chile and India.

What do you know or think about the United States?:

A very common answer was simply "hamburgers." Many students think that Americans eat hamburgers all the time, including for breakfast. They also believe that everything in the United States is really expensive (they are correct, especially compared to Taiwanese prices).
