I (Ona) didn't ask my students this question because I wasn't sure if it would come off as rude or prying. Most Taiwanese people live in apartments or in houses with many generations of family, or near family, members.
I (Ona) also did not ask this question, but Taiwanese students in Chiayi County and City have morning chores at school every day. My students sweep and mop the floors, take out the trash, water the plants, clean the desks, erase the whiteboards, rake the leaves and pick up trash outside. As far as I can tell, no schools have janitors, and the students fully lead all of the school cleaning duties.
