Our News

This week I listened to Garth Brooks, Faith Hill, Jonas Brothers, Flo Rida, Dierks Bentley and some songs from the movie, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. It's quite a variety, I know, but it reminds me of times I spent listening, singing and dancing to these songs with family and friends.

What activity was the most fun this week?:

My favorite activity this week was rowing. I'm taking a rowing class at the local university, and we get to row on the Elbe River! I rowed over 5k Tuesday. That's more than 3.1 miles. My second favorite activity has been reading about different kinds of energy production. I'm researching, in part, politics about energy production and climate protection. It's been fascinating to learn the ins and outs of how energy is produced, stored and how extensively we use it!

What did I read this week?:

I am reading two books. My "fun" book is about Iran's recent history. My "work" book is about the political group I study. But my "work "book is in German. Since German isn't my first language, I read a little slower in German.

What games or sports did I play this week?:

I went running and rowed this week!

Other news from this week:

I would love to tell you about the New Years fireworks in the Netherlands (another country in Europe that borders Germany). In the Netherlands, anyone is allowed to buy almost every kind of firework, and they start setting them off a few days before New Year's Eve. By 10 am New Year's Eve, people start setting off fireworks, and you can hear the boom, boom, boom all day long.
