While being here in Florence, I have noticed how many colorful flowers brighten gardens and parks. Two of the most beautiful flowers that I have seen are the rhododendron and azalea, which add life and color to the nature of Italy!
Some rhododendrons and azaleas also grow in Wisconsin and other places in the United States. Have you ever seen these flowers in a garden or park near you?
These plants have bright flowers in shades of pink, red, purple and white. Their green leaves stay shiny and strong, and their blossoms grow in big, round groups.
When I first saw these flowers by a flower truck in Florence, I felt happy and calm. Their colors made the whole street look happy and pretty!
These flowers can grow in gardens, in parks and on hills with cold air and good dirt. They are also found in the mountains of northern Italy!
These plants use their wide roots, which are the parts of the plant that grow under the ground and drink up water, to soak up rain and nutrients from the soil. Nutrients are good things in the soil that help plants grow strong and healthy. Above ground, their thick leaves protect them from too much sunlight and dry air.
