Hi, everyone! It has been about six months since I arrived in Germany and about two months since I started communicating with all of you. Though I will be staying here for around four more months before I head back to Seattle in the summer, our time together is coming to an end. As such, I would like to take a moment to reflect on my experience abroad so far.
I remember when I first landed in Munich. Stepping out of the airplane, I was struck by a mixture of excitement and nervousness. I was happy to be in a new place and looking forward to the fun adventures I would hopefully have in Germany. However, I also had a lot of worries. How would my life here be? Would it be difficult to adjust to the cultural or environmental differences? Would I be able to make friends? These worries persisted even after my first few weeks in Munich.
After many months of living here though, I can now confidently say that deciding to study abroad was the correct decision. I have met a lot of wonderful people, German and otherwise, in Munich and made many new friendships with them. I have learned much about other lifestyles, foods and cool activities that I had never heard about in Seattle, such as weisswurst (white sausage, a dish from southern Germany) and lake surfing.
