How far did I travel this week?:

This week I traveled from the western side of Samoa's smaller island, 'Upulo, to the eastern edge of the island. It only takes about an hour and a half to travel from one side of this smaller island to the other!

How far have I traveled on this journey so far?:

It is quite hard to determine exactly how far I have traveled during my journey because I am constantly traveling! I spent my first week in Hawaii prior to flying to the Samoan island of 'Upulo. We then all visited Fiji before traveling to the larger Samoan island of Savai'i.

How did I get around this week?:

This week I got around using the public bus transportation system. My program director also sometimes give us rides around the island.

What was the most interesting place I visited this week?:

The most interesting place I visited this week was the Potousi Development Trust. It is a nonprofit organization that became a school and even provides healthcare to local Samoans!

Other Travel News from this week:

I have become rather used to the Samoan public transportation system, but I still find it very different from buses in America! In Samoa, people commonly sit on each other's laps when the bus seats are full, which I am not used to! Even though it's different for me, I think this shows the close sense of community that is valued in Samoa.
