Trams reduce traffic, which means getting to your destination is quicker than ever. Plus, instead of worrying about driving and parking, you can spend that extra time on the tram talking to friends, reading a book, or listening to music. Trams are my favorite way to get around in Grenoble.
France places high value on being environmentally friendly, as using public transportation like trams and buses use less pollutants than everyone driving in their own vehicle as less exhaust gasses are being released into the atmosphere. Also, the closer you get to the city center, the narrower the streets become. Using the tram system is an easy way to reduce the number of cars in the city center which allows for main city squares to have more space for pedestrians and outdoor space for cafes instead of additional driving lanes.
